The
G3CARS system is comprised of the following sub-system
components.
-
Cockpit Reporting Information System (CRIS)
This is the software used by the crew to complete logbook forms and
submit them to operations. The system also provides an interface
to the company Crew Library and is designed for use with Windows XP
for Tablet PC.
-
Aircraft Form Data
Receipt Service (AFDRS)
The AFDRS service receives logbook form data from aircraft terminals
and sends a receipt acknowledging acceptance.
-
G3CARS JETStream
Service (GJS)
This sub-system provides a terminal update facility for updates in the
field for the Airline Crew Library and other data services as required
by the airline.
-
Airline
Information System Import Tool (AISIT)
A custom form data collation tool is provided to allow the Airline to
import the received data into their operations computer system.

Each Airline has its own unique
requirements and therefore G3CARS was designed for customization.
The core system is the basis for a new G3CARS rollout, and when the
Airlines own logbook forms are "put under glass" they provide the user
interface that is both familiar to crews and easily certified by the FAA
or local authority as it is an electronic version of the one already in
service.
The G3CARS servers are designed with fault
tolerance and failure recovery in mind. The basic system
implementation delivers a primary and secondary Aircraft Form Data
Receipt Service (AFDRS) which provides high availability form/receipt
transactions.
G3CARS provides a proprietary receipting
system that verifies that a logbook form has been submitted successfully
and that the crew can proceed with operations.
